Kenny G West Palm Beach Concert reviews
Flat and non-inspiring
We usually find the performance delightful and memorable, attending the Nutcracker almost every year as part of the Christmas festivities. This year's performance, however, was essentially flat, at least the one we attended on Saturday afternoon. The dancers seemed tired and not engaged, as if they had done this too many times and just wanted to get it over with. The music labored on several occasions, and I felt like turning a crank to speed it up to where it should be. There were no "bravo" moments even during the pas de deux when there are typically several such moments. The audience seemed anxious to leave once the curtain had fallen - I know we were. Too bad because the Kenny G has talented dancers, but they need to focus on energizing the audience and drawing them in to the performance no matter how many times they perform the work. There was no standing ovation (as is usually the case) and no curtain calls.
